Our Chef is a trainer at the Hospitality and Tourism School in Estoril (EHTE), in Culinary Arts and in Management and Kitchen Production Courses. He is also an educator on the Association of Professional Cooks of Portugal (ACCP) in the Course of Professional kitchen.
On the Chef’s resume, there are several passages that are worthy to mention like the Hotel Ritz Four Seasons, Hotel Bairro Alto in Lisbon or The Dorchester Hotel in London, where he had the privilege of serving the queen of England or the humanitarian Nelson Mandela.
Your Cooking Class experience starts at the Market. After a brief description of the Market´s History, the purchases will be done for the chosen menu, which goes from the bread of the day, choice of fresh fish, vegetables, and fruits without forgetting the olives and lupins.
The history of each seller and the seasonality of seasonal products are addressed, among other curiosities.
After shopping, customers move to the Chef´s home, where they are given an apron and Get to work!
The Chef gives an explanation of the recipes and a framework with the preparations and begins to prepare the meal. While preparing for the meal, taste your fantastic wine, bread, olives, and lupins bought on the market.
In the afternoon another surprise: Get ready to walk through the most traditional districts of the city, starting with Rossio Square, in the heart of the city, where a tasty surprise is waiting for you. You will understand the tragic history that lies beneath the architecture of the district of Baixa, crossing its streets to arrive in Chiado, the most elegant hill of Lisbon.
The famous tram 28 will take us to Alfama, the oldest and most picturesque district of the city, with the labyrinthic narrow streets and its façades covered with glazed tiles, where all neighbors know each other, the children play in the streets, and the perfume of sardines is always present! To end up this memorable day a stop to admire the city because, after all, taking time to relax and contemplate is one of Lisbon’s pleasures and what makes it such a seductive, romantic city.
