The medieval town of Óbidos is one of the most picturesque and well preserved in Portugal. King Dinis offered it to his wife, Queen Isabel, in the 13th century and it became part of Queens’ Estate, throughout the various dynasties. On the sightseeing and gastronomy chapters, Ericeira is famous for its excellent seafood. Here we will relax, take lunch and enjoy the breath of the ocean.

Óbidos is the finest example of a Portuguese walled town and is one of the best historic and scenic destinations in Lisbon region. The village was historically a wedding gift to the Queen of Portugal, a tradition started with Queen Urraca in 1214 and continued until the 19th century. This royal patronage has left an enduring legacy, and today it is one of the most characterful towns of central Portugal.

Óbidos will be a charming surprise and a town to explore walking: there are narrow cobbled streets, traditional whitewashed houses, and an imposing medieval castle, being one of the best examples of a Portuguese medieval town.

On Ericeira, you will discover a fishing village by the sea, on the northeast of Lisbon. This town is famous for its beautiful beaches, located where the high cliffs of the rocky coast meet the Atlantic Ocean. Surfing is the dominant sport, due to the exceptional coastline conditions for the practice and it is considered World Surfing Reserve, the first in Europe and second in the world.

On gastronomy matters, Ericeira is known for the high quality fresh fish and seafood, which you can try properly paired with the great wines of Lisbon Region!
