You will get to see and feel:
We will travel to Vila Nova da Barquinha. Set in a small rugged island in the middle course of the river Tagus there´s a castle that is one of the most emblematic and scenographic military medieval monuments of the Reconquista (Christian Reconquer), being simultaneously one of the best that evokes the memory of the Templars in our country.
Then, you will travel to Dornes. Situated in an inlet of Castelo de Bode water reservoir, Dornes is one of the most interesting towns of the central region of Portugal. There are several reasons for that: location, views, picturesque houses, legends and traditions related to it.
After a fantastic lunch on a regional restaurant with homemade food, you will travel until the Templar city of Tomar where we will visit the fabulous Convent of Christ, Unesco World Heritage Site, the castle of Tomar, the mystique Charola (XII century Templar church), supposedly modeled on the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, the famous Manueline Window and the largest monastic complex in Portugal.
Finish your day in a perfect way by visiting one of the most remarkable Portuguese monuments. Originally designed as a monument symbolizing the Christian Reconquest against the Moors, finally came to symbolize just the opposite, during the Manueline period: the opening up of Portugal to other civilizations.
