What is true luxury today?

People are not the only ones changing. The concepts and ideas that we produce and live under also change, and the concept of luxury is no exception. This idea linked to the search for personal and collective happiness accompanied the tremendous changes at the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, and it is now up to us to find out how these changes impacted the travel and tourism experience sector.

Is luxury still the fact that you can travel in a jet or a private yacht?  Staying in marble-covered hotels with breathtaking views of exotic cities or nature spots? Visiting Spas that make you feel like you’re in a world apart because of their sumptuousness and wellness offerings?

Is luxury more about the ability to tailor all your experiences to your interests, background, and personal dynamics? What is luxury?  Spas that make you feel like you’re in a world apart because of their sumptuousness and wellness offerings?

In the travel industry, we also live in challenging times: the new generations have access to many material goods that baby boomers found more difficult, or in some cases impossible, to obtain. Perhaps this is why the notions of personal luxury are, for these new players, different.  Today, younger people want to live experiences that are more authentic and genuine, where they don’t feel that everything has been put together to make them feel good.  Sometimes it’s even asked for a certain unpretentiousness, a natural ease of those who produce the activities, (typical of real-life) for the traveler to feel so integrated that he or she feels like a local during the space of time that the experience takes place.

This, in turn, will make the traveler feel more fulfilled, more tolerant, with wider horizons that allow him to see the world in a more global and integrated way. ‘

It is through this broadening of personality, through fun and education that we achieve what at The Best Portugal we call ‘Edutainment’, a well-proportioned mix between education and entertainment.  We believe that these are the ingredients that make everyone who experiences The Best Portugal want to come back to our country and to refer friends and family to us.

The perception we want to transmit to our visitors and in order of importance is always: first Portugal and then all about the Region you are visiting. The rest, comes naturally…
