Alentejo is a supremely romantic wine region in southern Portugal where you will find soft rolling hills covered in vineyards, cork forests, white villages, and Moorish castles. Some of Portugal’s most famous wines are made in this region and maybe that’s why it was awarded in 2014 with the title of the best wine region in the world, by USA Today.

Leaving Lisbon, you will travel towards the beautiful Vidigueira region. Here we will visit one winery and taste its premium wines. You will get to know full-bodied reds with red fruits and wild berries notes and smoothly acidic elegant whites with mineral notes, made out of native grapes. On Alentejo, you will also discover a millenial tradition, coming from Roman times: vinho da Talha, the traditional Alentejo version of the wine amphora. This wine is fermented in clay amphorae, which you will try during our lunch, at a typical Vidigueira restaurant!

In the afternoon, you are going to visit one olive oil producer, to know his manufacturing methods and learn about the differences in taste and how to pair it with food.
