In the Alentejo Highlands

In the Alentejo highlands, the chestnut trees and oaks share the area with olive trees, while the vines grow on gentle slopes. On the base of Serra de S. Mamede, near to Portalegre and Serra da Ossa, vineyards benefit from a particular climate, favorable to viticulture due to the Atlantic influence and the proximity of Ribatejo and Beira Baixa regions, combined with the natural elevation of vineyards.

Start your Adventure

During this tour to the Alentejo highlands, you will get to know three wine producers with different dimensions, backgrounds, and production goals, and taste wines with different evolution stages.

Wines from this area are very different from the rest of Alentejo: not only by the cooler wheather from this higher region (its highest vineyard at 760mt) but also by the different grape varieties mixed in the old vineyards, producing refreshing and elegant wines, with intense minerality and great aging potential. Perhaps, one of the reasons why this region was considered in 2014 by USA Today, the best in the World.

During the wine tours, you will have the company of the winemakers and the chance to taste some of their their precious jewels.

Lunch will take place at a traditional Alentejo restaurant, where you can taste the real comfort food from this region’s cuisine!

Come with us and discover the charming Alentejo highlands, its peaceful landscapes and friendly people!
