Porto: the Douro City

Close to the mouth of Douro River, in northern Portugal, Porto is one of the oldest European centers. Called Portus Cale by the Romans, it is said this is the origin for the name Portugal.

Porto gives its name to one of the most famous portuguese drinks, Port Wine, and by visiting the city you can still see the traditional barges filled with wine barrels transported down river to the cellars.

Start your Adventure

Your private Porto tour starts uptown in Clérigos Tower which offers breathtaking views over the city, from its 76m-high tower. Closeby, you can see  Lello bookstore and learn how its connection to Harry Potter has made it one of the most popular bookstores in the world.

Walking downhill, our next visit is São Bento Train Station: take a good look at the astounding azulejos in the hall covered in tiles. Continuing, we will visit the beautiful traditional Bulhão Market, where you can feel the true Porto and its people!

We will stop for lunch facing the city, so you can have time to enjoy the magnificent view towards Douro river.

Porto Cathedral will be our next stop, ending close to Ribeira to enjoy the riverside. Here you can explore the neighborhood and take in the stunning views by the Douro River or wind down your afternoon with some drinks on Port Wine Cellar for a tasting tour!

But this is just an appetizer! During the tour you will taste some of the delicious delicacies that Porto has to offer!
