Knights Templar Route

Leaving Lisbon, we will head towards Vila Nova da Barquinha. Set on a small rugged island in the middle of Tagus River, we will find Almourol castle, one of the most emblematic and scenographic military medieval monuments, being simultaneously one of the best evoking the memory of the Knights Templar in our country.

Then, we will continue to Dornes. Located y the Zêzere River, this town is one of the most interesting in the central region of Portugal due to its location, picturesque houses, legends, and traditions related to it.

After a fantastic lunch on a regional restaurant with homemade food, you will travel to Tomar, where we will visit the fabulous Convent of Christ, UNESCO World Heritage Site, the castle of Tomar, its mystique XII century Templar church, the famous Manueline Window and the largest monastic complex in Portugal.

Convent of Christ complex is one of the most remarkable Portuguese monuments and it is deeply connected to the Knights Templar, as the beautiful town of Tomar.
